Bass Station 2 as an analog drum machine

Elektron hardware is known for its innovative features such as parameter locks implemented on their popular xox-style sequencers.  Parameter locks give you the ability to change parameters on a per-note basis by simply holding down the step and tweaking knobs.  This yields very interesting results instantly.

The Octatrack is perhaps the most robust of the Elektron sequencers.  It allows you to set parameter locks in both the internal sampler section and to external midi gear.  Unfortunately only simple MIDI CC parameters can be parameter-locked, while parameters requiring more bits of data, such as a program/patch changes, cannot be locked (or even recorded!).  I was puzzled as to why Elektron would leave out this feature, considering even their older hardware (monomachine) is able to patameter-lock patch changes.

Even though the Octatrack lacks the ability to parmater-lock patches, I decided the concept was too tempting not to experiment with, so I used MIDI-OX to translate regular CC's coming from parameter locks in the Octatrack into program changes being sent to the bass station, thus giving me the ability to pseudo-parameter-lock patch changes!  Well worth it if you ask me.
